For 1930, Henry Ford’s Model A was modestly redesigned. Roadster and Phaeton models gained fold-down windshields and Deluxe and Standard Roadsters had different roof lines. The Deluxe had a shorter windshield and lower profile top, making it the sportier and jauntier of the two.
Model As could be dressed up with several factory accessories and many, like this 1931 Deluxe Roadster, were. Displayed in a sleek Riviera blue paint scheme accented with tasteful pinstripes, black fenders and a tan convertible top, this car is period correct from every angle. The saddle brown interior and popular rumble seat compliments the exterior and completes the look. This beauty is further equipped with dual side mount spares, pedestal mirrors, cowl lights, etched wind wings, quail radiator cap, luggage rack with trunk, full rear bumper, twin taillights, running board step plates, whitewall tires and grille guard. It is powered by a 200.5-cid, 40-hp inline four-cylinder engine that is connected to a three-speed manual transmission. This car is completely original.
Model A Fords are tremendous fun. They are easy to maintain, accelerate swiftly and keep up with all but superhighway traffic. The full effect is felt in an open car, just like this one.
This Roadster underwent a complete 10-year frame off restoration that left nothing untouched. The entire frame was rebuilt with new steering, suspension, and braking components. The wheels were re-powder coated in the straw yellow you see on the car today and new Goodyear wide whitewall tires and new tubes were installed. The 40 HP, 500.5 CI 4 CYL engine was fully rebuilt in this car and so was the transmission it is paired up with. The rear-axle has been swapped out with a more highway-friendly high-speed ring and pinion gear ration. There is also a new stainless-steel muffler and tailpipe installed to keep the big four-cylinder engine quiet on the open road.
This car has been appraised August of 2021 as being in Concours Condition.
