Stout and strong the 1955 Thunderbird have a reputation for being mechanically trouble free. Ford only planned to build 10,000 T-Birds for the 1955 model year, but within the first 10 days they had over 3,500 orders. It would go on to sell over 16,000 before the yearend. This was the first time a singular model rose to the top of a company’s line up that was not considered a big coupe, sedan, station wagon, or truck. Even if you could not afford one or it was not practical enough for you, you still dreamt of owning one.
